Easy one hour hike leaving The Little Green Store at 1:00pm. A rare opportunity to visit Ella's Rock and the Hotel Monte Sano's old chimney, both on private property. A display of artifacts from the hotel will be in The Little Green Store. Spring has finally sprung on the mountain, so come and join us.  Hike 3 of the Monte Sano Challenge to Abbey Rocks and the Natural Well is still on for this Saturday, March 14, 1:00--4:00pm. Meet at the Burritt on the Mountain Parking Lot at 1:00pm. Check with me (256-489-5294) or Burritt (256-536-2882) after 10:00am on Saturday if it is raining.   This Thursday, March 12, 2015, 7:00--8:30pm, in the Second Floor Meeting Room of the Main Branch of the Huntsville--Madison County Public Library, I'll be discussing and signing my new book, The Hotel Monte Sano. I'll be projecting photographs and maps from the book and the Library's Archives to illustrate some of the local mountain's history and colorful lore.  Looks like the weather is going to cooperate this week, so Hike 2 of the Monte Sano Challenge is on for this Saturday, March 7, 1:00--3:00pm, leaving from the Monte Sano State Park Office at 1pm. It's an easy, flat 2-hour walk over slightly muddy trails. Hope to see you there!  |
